Fabric: Very light pink bridal satin called
"pink ice", white shimmery bridal satin
The piece de résistance of this three-piece outfit is the fascinator. For
those unfamiliar with a fascinator, refer to the gala and wedding photos
of events in England.
It consists of a round sphere with a padded bottom, covered in the pink
satin with narrow lace along the edges, decorated with a bow of the same
fabric, with a pink paper rose in the center over the knot. There
is a bow made of white tulle (netting) at the back, with a white ribbon
bow over the center knot, adorned with four diamond beads. To add to the
asymmetry of how it is generally worn, a pretty white ribbon juts out
from one side. It is made to sit on a wide white headband and has
a large white ribbon loop sewn to the bottom so it can just slide over
the band and be placed however the wearer wants it.
This elaborate light pink and white dress features loads and loads of ruffles. The full skirt
fits over a very full petticoat, shown here on a 150-yard crystalline
one (not included). The base is pink and the bottom tier is also made
with pink satin, with narrow white lace trim along the top edge and hem.
The upper ruffle is made of white satin and is finished with narrow white
lace on the top edge and hem. This ruffles goes all the way around,
sweeping up a bit at the sides, then sweeping up to
the center back, where between the sweeps is filled with yards and yards
of white ruffles. It is attached with pretty ruffled white lace.
Where the ruffle sweeps up at the sides, at each side there is a
decoration to match the fascinator. It consists of a pink satin
bow, with white tulle over it, with pink gros-grain forming the knot and
tails, and a pink paper rose in the center. It is pinned from the
underside for easy removal for (dry) cleaning.
The center back 'rufflebutt' ruffles are all white satin with narrow white
lace, all attached with white ruffled lace.
The pink satin bodice features an asymmetrical white sequin appliqué,
carefully hand-stitched in place. On either side of it there are
white ruffles going from center front over the shoulder to center back,
widening across the shoulder area, attached with white ruffled lace as
in the skirt ruffles. These are finished with lace the same as the skirt
ruffles, with narrow white lace.
A large Peter Pan collar is made from white satin, with ruffled white lace
sandwiched between the upper layer and lining. The neckline is finished
with a 'self' bias strip made from the white satin.
Full pouffy sleeves are made from pink satin and have a ruffled made of
the same fabric attached with white ruffled lace, showing off a white
satin bow in the center. The hem of the sleeves, the ruffle top and
bottom are all finished with the same narrow white lace. Sleeves are hand pleated at the shoulder for a professional finish and
have elastic openings for a comfortable fit.
The separate apron is made from the white satin. White ruffles are
finished with the same lace as the rest of the outfit, attached with
ruffled white lace. Two light pink gros-grain ribbon
bows are featured where the ruffle meets the waist.
Center back zipper with tiny hook and eye closure at the top.
